Download IFE Before Boarding

This week, Global Eagle Entertainment launched an app called Airtime Content-to-Go that will allow passengers to download media onto their smartphones and tablets days or even weeks before they step foot on the flight. After the flight is booked, passengers will receive an email explaining Content-to-Go and how to download it onto their devices. The content becomes available shortly before the flight takes off, and is deleted from the device once the plane lands. It’s currently exclusive to the iTunes App Store, but will later launch on Google Play for non-Apple devices. Air Transat, a Canadian carrier, has been using Content-to-Go since the beginning of February.
