Plane Disappears in Indonesia, Search Underway

An Aviastar flight carrying seven passengers and three crew members went missing over the Indonesian island of Sulawesi early Friday morning. According to Transportation Ministry spokesman Julis Barata, air traffic control lost contact with the Twin Otter aircraft about seven minutes after it took off from Masamba, about 30 minutes before it was scheduled to land in Makassar.

Indonesian authorities have confirmed that a search is underway for the aircraft.
