Boeing has set a record in creating a wing for its next-generation 777X jet using “the largest solid object 3-D printed in a single piece,” according to Digital Trends.

The object, coined the “trim-and-drill” tool, is the result of a collaboration between the aircraft manufacturer and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. In a release, the 1,650-pound piece was said to be 17.5 feet long, 5.5 feet wide, and 1.5 feet tall.
