Bill Would Require NYC Hotel Bed Bug Inspections

On Tuesday, new legislation was introduced to the New York City Council that would require all hotels to allow exterminator inspections of all rooms for bed bug infestation every six months. Another bill, which is being introduced by Councilman Rafael Espinal (D-Brooklyn), would require annual reports be published by the city that detail all reports of bedbug infestation and tenant complaints.

“Tenants, homeowners, and businesses pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars to exterminate an infestation and replace damaged furniture and clothing,” Espinal said.
