Barbie’s Boyfriend Finds Broken Bag

A human plastic Ken doll broke down in actual tears when an airline broke his favorite luggage.

Barbie’s boyfriend recently had a bad day at the airport—he arrived at baggage claim to find his expensive luggage broken. Brazilian-born Rodrigo Alves, a man who’s had about 99 percent of his body touched by plastic surgery in some way to make himself a human version of a Ken doll, discovered the broken luggage in New York, after a flight from Heathrow Airport (LHR).

According to Alves, the flight was delayed six hours, causing him to miss a television show appearance in the U.S., and British Airways baggage handlers broke the handle on his expensive Louis Vuitton bag. Alves said he left the airport in tears after the airline refused to compensate him.

“They say that the airline can’t afford replacing this type of bag – in other words that I should not be travelling with an expensive bag,” Alves told the Sun Online. “They are travel bags and if they aren’t made for travel why wasn’t I told that at check-in? When I landed and picked up my bag I almost had a fit when I saw the broken handle. I was in tears. I was very upset. My travel insurance doesn’t cover damage by airlines. I went to Louis Vuitton to see about fixing it but BA are saying they cannot afford to do that.”

British Airways confirms that he will not receive compensation for his broken bag, blaming “ground handling issues outside of our control and therefore, we’re not liable for compensation payment.”

But they did apologize:

“We are investigating what happened to the customer’s bag,” a spokesperson told the Sun Online. “We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

I'm happy his expensive luggage was broken, maybe he can stop being a baby and grow up and buy a new bag. I have a nice bag and I don't check it for this reason! Ugh!

you see, fake Louis Vuitton have a true purpose! LV should sell their bags in set of 2: 1. the real deal to show off but never to be used 2. a Chinese shit & cheap copy to use when you travel (especially with BA, they also broke a couple of my luggage in the course of 15 months)

Take a good look at the HEAVY and FRAGILE labeling tapes on the suitcase. If you pack a large bag with heavy items, then check it as baggage, you can pretty much be assured that the handle will break. If the passenger had declared the suitcase as "high value," filled out paperwork and paid the fee, it would've been handled with more care.

Regardless of what other individuals think, Mr. Alves chose to present himself as he does and that is NOT the story. What is the story, is the miserable and thoughtless manner in which BA employees handle passengers and luggage. Regardless of class of service, level in the frequent flyer programs or otherwise, BA employees have shown disgust for the clients for years. From the warehouse full of "lost luggage" to the latest story about "instructing luggage handlers to stop urinating in the baggage holds of 747s" BA management and employees have made it clear that if you can't avoid the airline and Heathrow, then only travel with one small carry-on. You risk their wrath otherwise.

I'm not sure BA's position is legally correct. Ken might want to consult a lawyer. I was under the impression that "damage is damage" and if the airlines returns luggage on an international flight in damaged condition they are liable (up to certain limits) irrespective of how it was damaged, provided it was damaged while in their custody. The EU may have some rules that apply also.
