American Airlines Partners with Cadillac to Treat Elite Flyers

The largest airline in the world has partnered with Cadillac to offer travelers unique perks and luxury experiences.

American Airlines and General Motors released a joint statement from Fort Worth, Texas, and Detroit on Monday, announcing a partnership between the airline and the luxury carmaker, Cadillac. The new pact will see an expansion of American’s luxury airport transfer program, bonus AAdvantage miles for test driving a Cadillac, as well as exhibits from the automaker at American terminals across the route system.

American currently offers a luxury transfer program for ConciergeKey members with tight connections at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Elite flyers are met at the arriving aircraft and driven to connecting flights in a Cadillac limousine or Escalade. Under the terms of Monday’s agreement, this program will extend to LaGuardia Airport (LGA), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

The partnership also offers an opportunity to help flyers earn coveted elite status. AAdvantage members will have the opportunity to earn 7,500 bonus miles in October by registering to test drive a new Cadillac at their local dealership.

“Traveling in style is a shared interest of premium customers the world over,” Cadillac CMO Uwe Ellinghaus said in the joint statement. “Partnering with American Airlines, the world’s largest airline, allows us to engage customers and deliver valuable benefits in meaningful ways. Both brands embody the vitality and universal appeal of the American spirit.”

The above article says: "The partnership also offers an opportunity to help flyers earn coveted elite status. AAdvantage members will have the opportunity to earn 7,500 bonus miles in October by registering to test drive a new Cadillac at their local dealership." What does 7,500 bonus miles have to do with helping flyers earn coveted elite status? Those are not elite qualifying miles, aret they? Per every report I've seen, those are just bonus "regular" bonus miles, which don't count toward elite status! AA uses the term "elite qualifying miles" for miles that count toward elite status. AA uses the term "bonus miles" for regular miles earned from partners (or from bonus on flights).

Cadillac, really? An unimpressive brand with a miserable history. Maybe Delta in Detroit, but at least they use Porsche. Flame On.. PP
