Heathrow Airport is London's largest airport and one of the world's major hubs for international travel. As a result, Heathrow Airport parking and ground transportation options are extensive.
Transportation
Heathrow Airport offers you everything from taxis to train services. The Heathrow Express runs between Heathrow Airport and Central London. Although the Heathrow Express is more expensive than taking "the Tube," it will get you into downtown London approximately 40 minutes quicker. This is because the Heathrow Express offers fewer stops between the airport and downtown London. The Heathrow Express is available at 15-minute intervals every day of the year.
RailAir
RailAir buses operate out of Heathrow Airport and offer transportation to downtown London as well as many other major UK cities and towns. The RailAir is a cheaper option than the Heathrow Express, but travels at a much slower pace. A variety of RailAir stops are located throughout the Heathrow Airport, making it easy and convenient for you to purchase a ticket. You can purchase your RailAir ticket in advance, either online or via phone.
Heathrow Connect
Heathrow Connect is an express train that runs directly from Heathrow Airport to the Paddington train station in downtown London. The Heathrow Connect is available every half hour, every day of the year.
The Underground
The Underground is London's most frequently used type of travel, and is offered to and from Heathrow Airport. Although the London Underground is a cheaper option than most other ground transportation, it will take you a long time to get into the city. If you're traveling with many bags, it will be difficult to carry them into and out of the London Underground.
Heathrow Airport Parking Options
Heathrow Airport has a variety of parking options, which include:
- Long stay parking
- Short stay parking
- Valet parking
Long Stay Parking
There are three unique long stay parking lots within Heathrow Airport. These three long stay parking lots serve terminals 1 through 5. If you decide to park in one of the long stay parking lots, you will be offered a complimentary coach service which runs between all of the terminals. Heathrow Airport's long stay parking lots are approximately a 3 to 10 minute coach ride from the airport.
Heathrow Short Stay Parking
Heathrow short stay parking is available at both hourly and daily rates. To park for 30 minutes in a Heathrow short stay lot will cost you approximately 2 pounds, 40 pence. This price increases in 30 minute increments and maxes out 45 pounds a day (for multiple days in the lot). If you are looking to park in the short stay lot for more than a few hours, it is much more cost effective to park in the long stay parking lots.
Heathrow Valet Parking
Valet parking at Heathrow Airport is available in all of the terminals. If you decide to valet park your car, you will be greeted by Heathrow staff members who will pick up your car at a specified valet drop point. From here your car will be stored in a secured garage that is monitored all day, until you return from your trip.
