United Airlines In-Flight Features and Amenities

United Airlines offers a wide variety of in flight features and amenities that are sure to entertain and relax travelers. Some of these are complimentary, while others come for a nominal fee.

United Airlines In Flight Features and Amenities

With respect to entertainment, United Airlines is known for its unique EasyPurchase system that allows you to pay for in-flight movies, games and other screen based applications with a debit or credit card. You can swipe your card and enjoy in flight entertainment for hours on end. In flight services depend on which cabin you're located in. United Airlines offers:

  • United First
  • United Business
  • United Economy
  • Economy Plus
  • Premium Service

Each  of these cabins offers airline snacks and in flight entertainment.

United First

If you stay in United First, you'll have access to priority check-in, which allows you to skip to the front of most check-in lines. United First allows you to grab drinks prior to departure. The drinks offered in this area range from beer and wine to fresh brewed Starbucks coffee. You'll also have access to complimentary movies, headsets and meal service on flights longer than 2 hours. Movies are only shown on flights that are longer than three hours. There is often a TV service that you can access as well.

United First offers premium services with respect to international and cross country flights. Many of these flights include lie-flat seats that allow you to fully recline. United is the only airline that offers this in a domestic market.

United Business Class

United Business Class offers you an individual entertainment system that is located in the armrest of your seat. In addition to premium movies and TV shows, this system offers you the chance to play interactive video and trivia games. If you're flying internationally, United Business Class offers a pre-flight beverage service. All United Business Class flights offer a menu designed by chef Charlie Trotter. 

Another in flight feature that is unique to United Business Class is the patented Business Class Seat. It offers full lumbar support and the ability to adjust both the leg and arm rests. 

United Airlines Meal Service

A warm meal is provided on flights longer than 2 hours. If you are flying United First, the in flight features are much more extensive, and range from chilled salads topped with shrimp, to steakhouse tenderloin beef. If you're flying Economy, you'll have to pay for your meal. Most meals range from $3 to $7 an item. Snacks are around $3 and include peanuts and crackers. Snackboxes are around $7, and include a piece of fruit, crackers and several other items. If you're flying Economy, you can purchase a full meal for around $9.

On international flights, you can have everything from traditional Japanese cuisine to gourmet local meals. Flights will often offer meals that are specific to the region you are flying to.
