AA Flight Diverted Due to Mechanical Issue

An American Airlines flight from Miami to Los Angeles was diverted to Lubbock, Texas, Wednesday after a mechanical issue compromised the aircraft’s operations. According to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Airbus A320 carrying 186 passengers had to land “after declaring an emergency for engine oil warning light.”

Although passengers were placed on another aircraft, takeoff was not possible because of the length of the runway and the amount of fuel the flight required to make it LAX.

The alternate American Airlines aircraft, therefore, made a stop in Dallas to refuel before continuing onward. The flight touched down in Los Angeles early Thursday morning.
