A Former Norwegian PM Was Detained at IAD

Kjell Magne Bondevik, Norway’s Prime Minister from 1997-2000 and 2001-2005, was held and questioned at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) Tuesday after customs officials noted a visit to Iran in 2014 on his diplomatic passport. Bondevik arrived from Europe to attend the National Prayer Breakfast.

“Of course I fully understand the fear of letting terrorists come into this country,” Bondevik said to ABC7 News. “It should be enough when they found that I have a diplomatic passport, [that I’m a] former prime minister.
