San Francisco International Airport is the second busiest airport in California. The airport is located right on Route 101 about 13 miles south of downtown San Francisco.Between flights, the airport offers a host of attractions that keep passengers busy. The Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, an airport aquarium and the San Francisco Aviation Library and Museum are housed within the airport. In addition, there are a number of small art exhibitions located in the terminals.
Unlike other airports, San Francisco International Airport is dedicated to using Compressed Natural Gas vehicles for all airport fleets. By the year 2012, these CNG powered cars will be readily available for all shuttles and airfield transports.
T-Mobile provides complimentary Wi-Fi within the airport. Other airport services include XpresSpa, shoeshines, onsite travel agents, travelers aid, family restrooms, Bank of America, mediation room and business workstations.
BART has a station located in departures for those heading to or arriving from areas of San Mateo County. Other options for ground transportation include shuttle vans, taxi and pubic transportation. BART fares start at $1.50. Bus service starts at $1.75. Shuttle vans average $17 per person. Finally, taxi service ranges from $35 to $50.
